Tablet Presentation

Each film coated tablet Contains:
Olmesartan Medoxomil IP 20 mg
Amlodipine Besylate IP   Eq. to  Amlodipine 5 mg
Chlorthalidone IP 6.25 mg

This combination is effective to treat increased blood pressure. it is given in combination with other hypertensive drugs to lower the risk of stroke or heart attack.

Indications

• Hypertension
• Oedema associated with Congestive heart failure

About Composition

Olmesartan Medoxomil:

This drug is used to treat high blood pressure also useful for certain diseases such as stroke, heart attacks and kidney problems It belongs to the class of angiotensin receptor blocker.

Amlodipine Besylate:

Amlodipine is the calcium channel blocker. It lowers the abnormal conduction and lowers the incidence of myocardial depression.

Hydrochlorothiazide:

It is a thiazide diuretic. It is used to treat oedema and hypertension. It reduces the reabsorption of electrolytes into the tubules of kidney and promotes the excretion of water.

Mechanism of Action

Olmesartan Medoxomil:

It binds to the angiotensin-1 receptor blocks the enzyme and prevents its vasoconstrictory effects and aldosterone synthesis.

Amlodipine Besylate:

It enhances the production of nitric oxide which has vasodilatory affect and decreases the blood pressure by blocking the calcium channels

Hydrochlorothiazide:

It acts on the proximal convoluted tubule inhibits the resorption by inhibiting the sodium chloride symporter. the inhibition results in reduction of magnitude of concentration gradient.

Side Effects

• Eyes pain
• Swelling of hands, neck
• Burning sensation while passing out urine

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity
• Contraindicated in anuria
